Dürrstein & Co. started as a Dresden-based watch trading house.
He tried to bridge the gap between expensive Lange watches and the growing demand for good watches at lower prices. Initially, he was selling lower-priced Glashütte watches made by A. Lange & Söhne under the signature “Deutsche Uhrenfabrikation Glashütte”.
In the same time he developed connection with Swiss watch industry.
Introduced in 1890 "Glocken-Union" pieces were Swiss-made, not Glashütte-made. Finally, on 1 January 1893, Johannes Dürrstein founded the Union watch factory in Glashütte, which went on to make real Glashütte watches of a quality regarded as comparable to Lange and Assmann. Production effectively ended around 1925–1926; the Glashütte works closed in 1933, and the firm was removed from the commercial register in 1936.
Movement is built on modified by Dürrstein caliber of
A. Lugrin (this company became Lemania in 1924, merged im 1932 with Tissot & Omega, being responsible for chronograph's, including Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch).
