Good British deck chronometer by E.J. Dent in original case.
Watch diameter is 55mm, case is 113 x 95 x 55mm.
Watch is made by great British chronometer maker E.J. Dent, maker of Big Ben.
The watch is made to the highest of British chronometry standards, as you expect from precision watch from renowned maker.
It's equipped with detent escapement, fusee and chain, cylindrical hairspring.
The Greenwich Observatory records has been kept for this timepiece.
According to it, the watch was purchased in 1875 by British Navy from Dent directly. After this it was at the service of following ships:
HMS Britannia - 1879
HMS Triton - 1885
HMS Myrmidon - 1889
HMS Rambler - 1891
HMS Egeria - 1903
HMS Fantome - 1907
So it sailed the oceans for about 40 years on various HMS ships, while in 1915 wasn't became free of military service. It should be this year the military arrows had been removed from movement and case.
Condition
The watch appears to be in nice condition.
It functions, however revision history is unknown and timekeeping not tested.
The case is generally fine as well as wooden box.
Dial is free from the defects.
Overall very good condition.
