Miniature watch with rare Pig’s-Trough Escapement and Visible Balance Antique Pocket Watch in 18k Gold Case by Dupont Geneva

Rare miniature watch in 18k gold hunter case.
Diameter is 31mm, weight is 21 grams.

Movement is build in full plate design without fusee.

It's equipped with rare "pig’s-trough" escapement.
Escapement wheel in this escapement is flat and cylinder lacks the cut-through, being basically just a hollow demi-cylinder.
This type of escapement is quite rare and probably was mostly used in France and Switzerland.
Because of construction of escapement, the balance amplitude is limited, so it seems to be used mostly used in some special watches.


Movement is signed by Dupont Geneve.
O. Patrizzi mentions Dupont in "Dictionnaire des horlogers Genevois" - watchmaker 1810-1830s, watches of all kinds. Signed a small watch with a flat cylinder escapement with horizontal engagement, with a balance wheel visible from the dial.

The dial is very nice with it's beautiful engraving, miniature white time enamel subdial and visible balance wheel.

Condition
Watch appears to be in quite good condition.
Movement is in working condition, however isn't tested for time keeping.
Case has some period wear but generally ok.
Dial seems to be free from defects.
Late hands.
