Very nice single handed Louis XIV oignon watch. France, circa 1690.
Diameter is 57mm, thickness is 37mm.
Watch features beautiful porcelain dial.
Fully porcelain dials are rare for these watches, as the dial makers still struggle to receive such a big dials fully covered by enamel. The small porcelain "cartouches" are more common for period dials.
The watch features winding through center, nice feature, specific for single-handed watches of late XVII century.
The balance bridge is very nice, it's beautifully engraved and decorated with floral and birds ornament.
Watch is signed by Hommet a Paris. Tardy mentions Jean Hommet in Paris, active in 1690s.
Condition
Condition is rather nice.
Dial appears to be in good condition.
Movement is running in every position, though I don't guarantee time keeping.
The brass case is in ok condition.
The hinge is a little worn, and the glass is later - this way sometimes the movement should be better positioned in the case to fully close the front cover.. Otherwise good condition.
