Early 3 Hammers RUBY CYLINDER MINUTE REPEATER - 18k Gold Antique REPEATING Pocket Watch

Rare repeater in solid 18k gold case.
It strikes with three hammers to three gongs.
Case diameter is 55mm, weight is 111 grams.
Early Minute-Repeating pocket watch by Leroy & Fils.
France, circa 1825. Minute repeating watches from early XIX century are very rare and was produced only by most skilful watchmakers.
It strikes with three hammers to three square-section gongs.
Watch features ruby cylinder escapement and Breguet anti-shock with temperature compensation.
Cylinder escapements are frictional rest, there is a constant friction placed upon the balance. The excessive friction resulted to worsening time keeping.
A.L. Breguet introduced cylinder escapement variant, where part of cylinder was made of ruby, it significantly reduced friction and increased precision.
The watches with ruby cylinders was able to keep time almost comparable to ones equipped with lever escapement. However, this type of escapement was fragile and hard to make, and it was quickly substituted by lever escapement in quality watches.
Watch is signed by LeRoy & Fils, Horlogers du Roi - LeRoy & Sons, watchmakers to the king.
Being 20 years old, Basile LeRoy opened his workshop at Palais Royal, galerie de Pierre in 1785.
He became watchmaker to the French Navy and produced high quality watches.
Basile LeRoy quickly adopted all watchmaking novelties of his time and was one of the first using anchor escapement in France.
Very early he experienced strong Breguet influence.
the company remains active during whole XIX and XX century and still in business today.

Watch comes in solidly made 18k gold case, dust cover is also solid gold. Case is hallmarked with French hallmarks (owl) for 18k gold.
This watch was presented at Antiquorum in 2009 with 8-10 000 CHF estimation.
Condition
Watch appears to be in good condition.
The watch is running, though time keeping is not tested.
Repeating is striking correctly.
Solid silver dial is in good condition, mineral crystal.
Overall very fine watch is good condition.
