Rare black wood and ivory pocket watch
Diameter is 51mm while weight is only 33 grams - the watch is unusually light.
Extremely rare pocket watch with movement made of bone, probably ivory, in ebony case.
The watches made from bone and wood are traditionally associated with Russian production by Bronnikov family.
However, this watch is most likely Fleurier (Swiss) production for Eastern markets, probably China.
The movement of same design is shown in the book "La Montre Chinoise" (The Chinese Watch) by A. Chapuis, described as 3/4 plate Fleurier movement, made for China.
Probably one of a kind piece.
Condition
The movement of old bone can be very fragile, so I don't risk to wind it. It's unknown if it's capable to run or not.
Balance wheel oscillates slightly while shaken.
Dial is in excellent condition, with no visible damage.
Case is fine, with minor reparation to the bow.
