Very nice onion watch. France, circa 1700s.
Diameter is 60mm, thickness is 37mm.
Watch is really beautiful sample of Louis XIV onion watches.
It has slightly unusual look with it's silver dial and case, not typical for Louis XIV watches, which are coming mainly in gilt brass, especially the dials.
Watch is signed by Bouffe in Saumur.
Case is decorated with Louis XIV profile and Baroque arabesques.
Beautiful silver dial is engraved and features porcelain cartouches for hours and minutes.
Oversized balance bridge is decorated with chimeras and floral ornament.
Condition
Dial is in good condition with some minor chips to porcelain cartouches.
Movement is running in every position, though I don't guarantee time keeping.
Case is in very good condition, with minor wear.
Beautiful watch in good condtion.
