Beautiful Genevan pocket watch with enamel miniature.
Diameter is 53mm, weight is 87 grams. Switzerland, c. 1800.
Watch comes in beautiful case made of 14k gold.
Back cover is decorated with beautiful miniature, depicting lady with boy playing musical instrument (guimbarde?) and a Leman lake pastoral paysage.
The enamel is exceptionally fine, likely made with single hair brush.
Beautiful example of Geneva enamel works
The watch is signed by DesRoches in Geneve.
Surprisingly my reference books (Baillie, Loomes, Patrizzi) doesn't list this watchmaker, despite the exceptional quality of work. Probably it was a
marchand, trading by Geneva
La Fabrique production by his name.
Movement is a classical period production equipped with verge escapement with fusee and chain.
Condition
Lower part with enamel painting is in very good condition with a single, practically invisible chip (2x2mm) to the very edge.
The upper part, decorated with blue enamel, has some reparations to the blue enamel.
Movement is in good condition, fully functional, time keeping is not tested.
Dial is in fine condition without visible damages.
Case is in good condition, nothing to mention.
Mineral bull-eye crystal, beautiful hands are probably original.
