Nice pocket watch for Chinese market.
Diameter is 56mm.
Watch is equipped with classic
ruby duplex escapement.
It seems that this kind of escapement was less frequently used in Fleurier Chinese market watches than Jacot duplex escapement.
Duplex escapement of good execution with ruby roller was capable to achieve good timekeeping results, seems to be more or less on par with lever escapement.
However the ruby roller was more fragile and hard to repair.
Besides, when stopped, the watch should be shaken to run again.
Given this particularities, this escapement was relatively quickly substituted by lever escapement in higher-quality watches.
The movement is made in style of best quality Bovet production with mirror polished stainless steel bridges and mainspring barrel.
The wheels are made of white metal, probably also steel.
This polished steel details are making beautiful contrast with rich gild movement plate.
Movement is signed by Constant & Fatton.
I found no traces of this collaboration, however, Alfred Fatton is recorded in Fleurier in 1901.
Condition
Watch appears to be in good condition.
Movement is functional, however time keeping is not tested and cleaning is recommended.
Dial seems to be flawless.
Case is in good condition with missing movement protecting crystal.
Blued hands, mineral crystal.
Overall nice condition.
