Unusual pocket watch for Chinese market from Fleurier.
It’s quite big, diameter is 59mm.

Watch features keyless winding and date indication, probably unique feature set for normally keywind Fleurier calibers.
The watch should be a factory production, not a later modification:

  • movement engraving is made taking into account the time set pin button.
  • case is factory made to incorporate winding stem and pin set, what required to displace back cover opening spring from it's normally central position.

Movement is signed with J&P for Jequier and Petitpierre.
Jéquier Frères were watchmakers since 1853, with Jéquier et Reymond listed in 1866 and Paul Jéquier and Ulysse Jéquier appearing in 1869.

Jules-Henri Jequier forms a partnership with David-Louis Petitpierre of Couvet in 1884 known as Jequier et Petitpierre. The firm was located at Grande Rue 3 in Fleurier. This company is dissolved in July 1889 and taken over by Jéquier alone as Jules Jéquier Fils.

Date indication is equally unusual feature for Fleurier watches.
Movement is equipped with lateral lever escapement.
Case and dust cover are made of solid silver, dust cover is nicely engraved.

Condition
Movement is in running condition, though time keeping is not tested.
Date indication is functional.
Dial has minor side chip at XI and minor repaired defect between XI and XII.
Case is in good condition with some minor wear.
Nice blued hands, mineral crystal.
