Beautiful British verge fusee pocket watch.
Diameter is 47mm, weight is 93 grams.

The shape of the cock dates the watch to late 1680s approximately.
The pillars style confirms this guess.
Watch features rare early repousse case. Exceptional quality floral ornament uses floral patterns that is inspired by mid-XVII century.

The dial and movement are signed by Geo. Etherington in London.
Britten records Etherington George - Member of Clockmakers Company in 1684, Master in 1709.
"A Gold Minute Watch with a green Shagreen case, with gold studs, made by George Etherington ' [Land. Gaz., Dec. 25, 1689)."




Condition
The movement is nice and clean and is in running condition, though time keeping is not guaranteed.
Case is in very nice condition.
Dial bears traces of gilt, overall is in nice condition.
Good steel hands are probably original, mineral crystal.
